Kap Markets ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share your personal information when you use our platform. By using Kap Markets, you consent to the practices described in this policy.

This policy is in compliance with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023 and the regulations of the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Account details: username, email address, and password.
  • Bank account details for withdrawals (account number, bank name).
  • Any information you provide when contacting support.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device information: browser type, operating system, screen size.
  • Usage data: pages visited, trades placed, features used.
  • IP address and approximate location.
  • Push notification subscription data (if you opt in).

2.3 Payment Information

Payment processing is handled by our partner, Kora. We do not store your full card details. Kora collects and processes payment information in accordance with their own privacy policy and PCI-DSS standards.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account.
  • To process deposits, trades, and withdrawals.
  • To send transaction confirmations and account notifications.
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and prohibited conduct.
  • To improve our platform, fix bugs, and analyse usage patterns.
  • To communicate important updates about our service or your account.
  • To comply with legal obligations and regulatory requirements.

4. Push Notifications

If you grant permission, we may send push notifications to your device for trade confirmations, deposit alerts, market resolutions, and other account activity. You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings or your profile page on Kap Markets.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share your information with:

  • Kora — our payment processing partner, to facilitate deposits and withdrawals.
  • Supabase — our infrastructure provider for authentication and data storage.
  • Law enforcement — when required by law, court order, or to prevent fraud or illegal activity.

All third-party service providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the purposes we specify.

6. Cookies & Local Storage

We use cookies and browser local storage for authentication, session management, and user preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. Essential cookies are required for the Platform to function and cannot be disabled.

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (TLS/SSL), secure authentication via Supabase, and role-based access controls. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. Transaction records are retained for a minimum of 6 years to comply with Nigerian financial regulations. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

9. Your Rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act, you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Deletion — request deletion of your personal data (subject to legal retention requirements).
  • Restriction — request that we limit how we process your data.
  • Objection — object to processing of your data for certain purposes.
  • Portability — request your data in a structured, machine-readable format.

10. Children's Privacy

Kap Markets is not intended for persons under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If we become aware that a minor has created an account, we will immediately terminate it and delete associated data.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification at least 7 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Platform constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
